Quantum Technologies Senior Laboratory Manager

Emergence Quantum is looking for a dynamic and energetic technical laboratory manager to assist in the coordination of multiple engineering and experimental projects as well as overseeing infrastructure across multiple state-of-the-art laboratories.

The role is based in Sydney, Australia and will include both the maintenance and upkeep of existing facilities and also leading responsibilities into finding and bringing up new laboratories.

Qualifications: Degree in Engineering, Science, or equivalent experience.

Essential Skills: We are seeking a highly collaborative and communicative person with broad interests across science and technology who thrives in team environments. Some knowledge and experience in electronics, vacuum systems, cryogenic systems, helium systems, dilution refrigerators and related infrastructure. General knowledge of experimental methods — computer automation and data acquisition, CAD and mechanical drawing — is also desired.

Bonus skills: Knowledge and experience in mechanical fabrication, machining, welding, and related tool maintenance and operation.

Duties in the role include:

·     Equipment installation, hookup, maintenance, supply chain management, vendor, warranty and service management and coordination.

·     Safe work procedures, risk assessments, documentation maintenance and compliance.

·     Building infrastructure management: security, cooling water, power, comms, sensors, alarms, response.

·     Training and oversight of new members of staff.
